Our Legacy Series exhibit contrasts two iconic American 4x4s, a 1970 and a 2024 Ford Bronco. Side-by-side in the Members 1st Gallery, the old-school original meets the new-school “Heritage Edition.”

Ford developed the 2-door Bronco for off-road use to compete with the Jeep CJ-5, Toyota Land Cruiser, and the IH Scout. Five Bronco generations followed. Buyer demand shifted to larger SUVs for road use, such as the Chevrolet Blazer and Jeep Cherokee. In 2021, the current model became the 6th generation Ford Bronco.

1970 Old School Bronco

The first-generation Ford Bronco, built from 1966 to 1977, is considered the most desirable classic Bronco. In August 1970, Dan Helm purchased this Yucatan Gold Bronco after the Air Force transferred him to Missoula, Montana. After driving it 213,000 miles in 16 years, he parked it. Upon retiring in 2016, he, his sons-in-law, and friends began a restoration, which they completed in 2018.

Powered by the optional 200 HP 302 CI V8 engine, this 3900-pound GVWR Bronco has, as initially equipped, a 3-speed column shifted manual transmission, auxiliary fuel tank, free running front hubs, mud and snow tires, swing-away spare, and a 3.50 ratio rear axle.

2024 New School Bronco

The exhibit presents a Robin’Robin’slue 2024 Ford Bronco Heritage Limited Edition 4×4 that embraces classic style & modern capabilities. The body-on-frame construction, 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine, 10-speed automatic transmission, and a range of off-road-focused features make it well-equipped for rough trails, rocky paths, and muddy landscapes. A turbocharger further enhances this modern BroncoBronco’srmance while preserving fuel economy. The vehicle is presented courtesy of Rob Rohrer, Maguire’s Ford Hershey, PA.
