Our fun and fast ATV exhibit is here through October 22nd! Guest Curators Justin Wenrich & Jared Kauffman focused this exhibit on 3-wheel and 4-wheel ATV machines from the 1970’s, 80’s, and 90’s.
Initially developed in Asia for remote farming transport, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s) also found their way into the United States and Canada.
- First designed with big fat tires to provide a level of floatation, the 1969 Honda® All-Terrain Cycle (ATC) was imported into the United States and promoted as a recreational vehicle.
- After 1988, ATV popularity lessened due to safety concerns – claims of ATV rider accidents due to rider immaturity, inexperience, and lack of safety training.
- Now with growing awareness of safety, a new generation of recreational riders have rediscovered the fun of ATVs.
