The model bus display on the upper level of the Museum has recently expanded thanks to the efforts of dedicated bus enthusiasts from the Museum of Bus Transportation (MOBT).
John Dockendorf added two additional cases of model bus displays featuring bus memorablia from his personal collection. Two themes are represented in the new cases. The case on the right presents the the1930s-era Pickwick NiteCoach memorabilia. The NiteCoach was an attempt to create a roadworthy Pullman-style coach. The coaches were operated by Pickwick, Greyhound, and Trailways in two styles, the Morpheus and Alascia, holding up to 14 berths. The case on the left features bus memorabilia from various World’s Fairs. Among the fairs included are the 1933 Chicago Century of Progress, 1939 and 1964 New York World’s Fairs, and fairs representing San Francisco, the Great Lakes, and Texas.
In addition, two new cases sponsored by the MOBT have been added. These cases were funded by donations from MOBT members through the leadership of MOBT President John Oakman. One shelf in each of the MOBT cases features new model buses from the catalog of Iconic Replicas, a company owned by Museum supporter, Jeff Silver, and offered for sale in our Museum Shop, Accessories. The new MOBT case on the right presents various Trailways bus memorabilia. The new case on the left includes a collection of Greyhound memorabilia.
